Las hojas de otoño

I was running late to church when I saw a leaf falling down gracefully in front of my bicycle... It floated from one side to the other slowly, giving me a chance of seeing what a beautiful little thing it was. It is ‪‎autumn‬ here in ‪‎Sydney‬.

I stopped my bike and took some pictures. I am late already anyway. I thought of how my grandma had cast her branches for a season over the family and her leaves had given us comfort when needed.

The leaves may loose their color, wither, and fall, but not long ago they gave energy to the tree.

Though small, together, they provide strength to the tree.

For my grandma, it was the small acts of kindness and service that made her strong. And I think she felt that it was part of her life's mission to make everyone feel special.

We all did! I wont forget how she held me and talked to me this last time I saw her. I remember asking her in several occasions, why she bought everyone a christmas present even when she wasn't going to see them. She never really cared to explain in detail, she mostly replied with a smile.

I travelled with my grandparents whenever I had a chance. Even when she was weak grandma always loved being outdoors admiring nature. Today I admire nature, and I am able to recognize the beauty of her passing. I am able to think of how my life is different because I had her all these years. I will miss her cooking, it might seem a silly thing to say, but she had a way to show love by fixing a meal.

Above all, I am happy to know that a lot of her has stayed with me. I take comfort to think that I might see her again and show her what I have done with my life thanks to her example.
